Wednesday 11th June - It's all go you know...

Up at 7.30am (whoops, nearly went back to sleep after the alarm went off!).

Today the plan was to go to a meeting at Doncaster Racecourse to learn all the health and safety stuff needed for our car show there.
I had yoghurt, banana and oats for breakfast, then Ann collected her order...then at 9.00am I set off.

I filled the car with petrol and was on my way...until after only 7 miles the car stalled and wouldn't start again. I tried over and over to get the engine to catch, but it just turned over...until it didn't turn over any more. Luckily I had spotted two chaps in the post office which I had broken down next to and I went and asked them to help me push it off the main road and up a side street. They offered to look under the bonnet first and the younger chap was amazed at what he saw there..."It's like going back in time" he said. Lol...indeed it is, needless to say they couldn't see any obvious reason why the engine had died and decided to stay that way.

Once George had been pushed to safety I phoned the breakdown service and they said someone would be out within an hour. So I waited, sent texts to the chap whose meeting I was supposed to be attending and to Paul (neither got the messages...why don't people check their phones!).

When the chap arrived he seemed to know his stuff and after a lot of engine turning (he had a portable battery (charger?) and twiddling under the bonnet he let me know that the condenser and points needed replacing. He then loaded George up onto the recovery vehicle and took us both home.

When we got home of course Marcia and Bruce had shocked looks on their faces (thinking I had been in a crash or something I think...I hadn't called them as I knew they would panic, and they had been out anyway), but I managed to reassure them.

We managed to get George pushed away into his garage and he will be waiting there for his new condenser and points to arrive now. I ordered them today and with any luck they should arrive tomorrow. My friend Rex from the club has said he will come along and put them in for me which I appreciate and will see he is re-paid with a cake of his choice.

So today was a bit stressful, and my food intake has gone a bit astray because of this (not a good excuse I know, but felt I needed some comfort).

1.00pm - A Snickers bar (part of a two pack so a little smaller than the single bars I think) when I got home.

2.00pm - 2 bacon, 2 small eggs (from our chickens! one was a double yoker) scrambled, 4 cherry tomatoes and 2 mushrooms.
An Almond magnum ice cream bar for after.

6.30pm - KFC tower burger and fries (in all the kerfuffle with the car I forgot to get anything out for dinner).

Found out that the ducklings which had been with there Mum until today seem to now be on their own. Tried to catch them to put them somewhere safe as otherwise they won't last long (too many wild predators here)...we only managed to get one, but are going out again later to try and get some more.
