Monday 10th February - Let's start again shall we!

Well, the weekend turned into a last hooray foodie blow out. I have decided that I need to go cold turkey were heavily processed foods are concerned, especially biscuits, crisps and cakes. Just having a little of what I fancy just isn't working, I have a little and I end up wanting more. So at the weekend I allowed myself to have whatever I wanted to eat, and thoroughly indulged my yearnings for anything I fancied. Suffice to say that when I woke up this morning I had a naughty treats 'hangover' and wasn't feeling the best...however I am hoping that this feeling will help me to stick to my abstinence in the coming weeks!

The idea is to completely cut out processed foods and make as much of my food from scratch as possible. I have plenty of time to cook a proper with good ingredients...but I am guilty of being lazy and uninspired at times, so to ensure I don't slip back into old ways, I will need to plan and think ahead in order to make sure I know what I am cooking each day. I am sure this would be obvious to most people, but it isn't something I have got in the habit of doing...hence fairly often it gets to nearly dinner time and I haven't got what I need out of the freezer or even have a clue what I want to make and so end up messaging Paul to get him to hunter gather on the way home. This needs to stop...starting today!

Having said no more processed foods, you will see that today I have a couple of shop bought ready made items on my menu...this is because they were bought before the weekend and I don't like to waste food. I will put a red star next to them to indicate that they will not be appearing on my normal food lists.

I will try and ensure I write the blog throughout the day, and publish as I write each part...that way you should have something to read whenever you check in.

Up at 8.00am

12.30pm - Brunch - 2 x bacon, 1 x egg and 4x cherry tomatoes

3.00pm - 2 x slices of wholegrain wheat + gluten free toast with some duck pate* on
A Muller red cherry corner* yoghurt for afters

Tonight my planned dinner is...
Turkey mince (with onion, mushrooms and some cranberry sauce*) with vegetables (cauliflower, peas, carrots and sweetcorn).
Possibly some toffee popcorn* for afters as we have half a packet left over from the weekend.
