Up at 8.30am
9.00am - Breakfast - 2 x bacon, 1 x egg and 4 x cherry tomatoes
So today I have a 10" round lemon Madeira cake and a 12" round vanilla Madeira cake to make, now mostly I enjoy baking...but when it is baking large cakes such as these for paying customers it is not so much a pleasure as rather stressful. Will they rise, will they be too moist in the centre and dry on the outside?? I also haven't baking much in the way of larger cakes in my new oven (had it a while, but not had to do big cakes until now)...so all I can do is do my best and hope the cake gods are smiling on me.
Also there is the ivy which must get done today so that it can be fully dry for wiring together.
Plus later there are roses and wax flowers (if I can work out how to do them), plus iced embroidery on the cake (after flat coating) and sugar models of bride, groom, kids and dog to do.
All in all I can say that I am going right off cakes and would much rather be out in the sun continuing to build the fruit tree netted area...but alas the wedding is Saturday and I just need to pull my finger out and get on with the cake.
3.00pm - Lunch (of sorts) - Stopped long enough to have two slices of granary toast with pork and mushroom pate on, then one granary crust with butter and lemon curd on (whilst writing this). Add to this a can of Pepsi Max and you have my lunch (well I did say it was sort of a lunch).
Ok, back to it...
