So this morning, the first day of the rest of my life, I woke up at 7.20am feeling awful. My cold far from getting better seemed to have decided to punish me further, moving the congestion down on to my chest as well as bunging up my head. I got up and made the packed lunch for my other half as normal and tried to decide whether to carry on as planned after all, in the end I settled for starting the healthy eating straight away and seeing how I felt as the day went on with regard to exercise.
I ate breakfast...two pieces of lean bacon cooked in the oven, four cherry tomatoes and a boiled egg, then I promptly went back to bed. I felt my body was telling me I needed to rest, so I listened to it.
I got up again around 11.30am feeling somewhat better, and decided that I would do my exercises after all. I didn't over do it...30mins free steps on the Wii at the lowest (default) speed, then I had a quick bath to freshen up and got dressed.
The exercise seemed to do me good and I felt positive that I hadn't failed to get going properly on the first day.
I ate lunch around 2.45pm. Brown rice and half a tin of tuna in spring water, with chopped up boiled egg, onion, beetroot, pepper and grated carrot. I used live natural yoghurt mixed with some garlic paste as an alternative to mayonnaise. It didn't look fantastic, but it was tasty and really filled me up.
Dinner tonight was at 7pm and consisted of roast chicken, parsnip 'chips' (slices of parsnip part cooked in the microwave, then baked) and various vegetables.
I had finished eating by 7.30pm and that is the last thing I will be eating today.
I have drunk 3 large glasses of water so far...but will probably get in another before bedtime (added bonus of extra exercise when I no doubt need to get up in the middle of the night to pee...lol).
So, that was the first day. Nothing too exciting, but I am pleased with my start.
Hopefully I will be feeling less full of cold tomorrow and will do my exercise before breakfast as I plan to do most days.
Oh, and I weighed...but I don't feel I want to share that total with you right now. I think it will suffice to let you know how much weight I (hopefully) lose as the weeks go by.
Friday is going to be my usual weigh day, so I will let you know how things go.
