Surprise!! I'm back :-)

Up at 11.00am...this was partly due to laziness and partly down to sheer bloody mindedness.
I work up at 7.00am when Paul did, then several times later...each time thinking I should get up now, but each time also thinking 'It is so warm and comfy...I don't want to get up'.
So I didn't...until 11am, by which time I felt ready to jump out of bed. Perhaps I really did need more sleep...or perhaps I was just rebelling against myself and my plans for a new start today (sadly I fear it was the later). I badly need to get back into the swing of things as I have put on well over half a stone over Christmas...all that over indulgence and lack of movement!

Anyway, once I was up it was time for some exercise. I have decided to start three challenges at once to throw me right back into the regime...however I am away that this could be somewhat over ambitious so if need be I may cut out one or more of them, or just do what I can of each every day. We shall see, but as I recently hurt my knee by falling out of our car (don't worry it wasn't moving, I just caught my foot in the strap of my handbag and fell heavily on the gravelled surface of the car park on my hands and knees. Ouch, but at least no one apart from Paul saw it)...so I am not going to push things if I start experiencing pain.

I worked out my exercise plan and then got on with the actual exercise.
I did...
20 (Stomach) Crunches
50 Squats
20 seconds of planking...explanation here - http://30dayfitnesschallenges.com/how-to-do-a-plank/
3 sets of basic steps (9 mins)
10 mins of free steps - slow speed (850 steps)

Then I had a quick dip in the bath and made some brunch...
1.00pm - 2 x bacon, 1 x egg and cherry tomatoes

Then it was time to head off to the car club committee meeting. It is held at the Chairman's house which is about 20 miles away and should take about 25mins to get to. I headed off filled up with petrol and followed the sat nav instructions from Paul's new toy (he let me borrow it to use in my car). I arrived safely and only a couple of minutes late...luckily another committee member always arrives at least half an hour late so all was well.
The meeting went on longer than I had hoped (partly due to us having to re-cap half the stuff when the late member arrived), and whilst I only had a cup of tea to start with (a little milk, no sugar) as the time ticked by I succumbed to a mince pie that had been on the plate in front of me since we arrived.

In the end the time to go home arrived. Now on the way there I had gone via the windy country lanes...given that it was now very dark I felt that going back on the motorway might be the best option, that way I could tootle along in the inside lane and folks could over take me with ease. The sat nav didn't want to give me directions via the motorway, but I figured it shouldn't be a problem as I had been back that way lots of times and it should all be clearly signed. So off I set, 1959 rock and roll playing me on my way. Off along the road and onto the M180, then I needed to go onto the M18...which I did with surprising ease heading off Southbound towards Doncaster. This was my mistake...I should have Northbound. It was a while before I realised my mistake...it being dark I was robbed of landmarks which may have alerted me to my silly error, it was only when I finally saw a landmark at the side of the road which I recognised as being on the way to Sheffield and which I knew I shouldn't have passed if I was going the correct route that I realised I was going the wrong way! I took the turn of to Rotherham, at which point my oil warning light came on and my heating which was working well was added to by my stressed hot flush...making me unsure whether I was feeling more sick or more like crying. Anyway, in the end I did neither. I turned in to an industrial estate...opened the boot and found some oil which I put into the engine and hoped would be enough (I used my handy little torch...thank goodness that I had my handbag with me).

Then I turned on the sat nav...which arguably was the reason for the situation in the first place. I typed in my home address and this time it agreed to give me a route home using the motorway I came on. I was on my way again, and eventually made it home with a great deal of relief...even if the oil warning light fluttered on and off intermittently (I shall check that out tomorrow).
So the journey home ended up being 44.8 miles and taking 55 mins (though it seemed so much longer)...and the moral is I guess try and memorise the important turns you will need to take (I had them written down in large letters on a bit of paper, but that isn't much use whilst driving along in a dark car!).

Anyway, alls well that ends well. I got home, put dinner on and did the washing up (which the washing up fairies hadn't done despite my delay in getting home...lol
8.15pm - 1 x pork steak, cauliflower and some baked beans.
Natural yoghurt with prunes and a small banana chopped up in it and some oats.

Paul was munching his way through a tray of chocolate fingers (mine left over from Christmas) while I ate my yoghurt and when I looked round there were only two left. I took them to save him from himself and ate them myself...well, it was a stressful afternoon...right?

So in summary...
early morning - didn't happen
exercise...not bad
healthy eating - could do better

Tomorrow is another day...bring it on!
